Phnom Penh

It is a cambodian - Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver. There are 2 favourite dishes that you have to try.

Marinated butter beef
Thinly sliced specially prepared rare beef on a bed of fried garlic, cilantro, and home special sauce
For those who like cilantro and rare meat, this is a must have dish. I love both of them and I truly enjoy eating this.

Deep fried wings
It looks like regular wings, but the combination of saltiness and sweetness is amazing. The skin is really crunchy. I can't stop eating this.

Phnom Penh rice noodles

Sauteed water spinach (Tong Choy)
Stir fried water spinach with homemade salted yellow bean

Fillet beef Luc Lac on Rice
Stir fried seasoned beef to perfection on rice

Bella Gelateria

When you talk about gelato, you should totally check this place.

What we ordered:
- Akbar mashti - the name is weird, taste is interesting...
- Mint chocolate
- Earl Grey
- Torroncino

Miku

It's definitely a high class restaurant with a great scenery. The restaurant is open for dinner only and the place is pretty classy and reasonably big. The food is totally amazing and fresh! I have nothing to say... It's pure heaven eating these kind of food. However, of course, it comes with a high price.

Aburi Sashimi Selection
four kinds of sashimi flame seared with signature sauces - $25

Oyster on the half shell
daily selection of half dozen oysters, wasabi chimchurri, kaffir lime mignonette, ginger cocktail sauce - MP

Sushi Town

It is a must eat sushi place! why? because it is cheap!!! What can be more amazing than cheap and tasty food!

Tobiko with quail eggs -  I know it is common, but I never had this before... I love it

Spicy chopped scallop

Spicy salmon - I think they forgot how to cut!!! BIG PORTION FULL SATISFACTION!

Awesome roll - like the name said: AWESOME

Fantastic roll

Spicy tuna

Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ

A Japanese BBQ restaurant in Vancouver that offer quality meats. The price is reasonable. Not too cheap but not too expensive. They proposed a combinations of different meats.

The place are clean and big enough to accommodate enough customers who need lunch. They offer happy hour for those who come for lunch.

Since we  were not sure what to eat, we pick the Geisha combo $60 for 2. We also added some additional menu on the side.

Gyu - Kaku salad

Tuna - Tataki

Spicy tuna volcano - I highly recommended this one. It's something I rarely tried in other restaurant. The top part is spicy tuna and the bottom part is some kind of rice.

Shrimp Garlic

We got several different types of meat. I am not sure which one which... They are really delicious

Bistro Hanger

Fillet mignon ponzu

Harami Skirt Miso

Kalbi Chuck Tare

Kobe Style Ribeye

Sukiyaki Bibimbap

S'mores - Grill your marshmallow!!! and create your s'mores. Honestly, I am not a fan of s'mores, they are too sweet, but making it is fun.

Taiyaki with ice cream - the inside is red bean. you grill it in the bbq yourself...

Vij's

When searching for restaurant in Vancouver, I saw this name all the time. We decided to try it. The restaurant is not too big. Only enough for several people. No reservation and pretty much a first come first serve basis. We had to wait around 1.5 - 2 hours just to get the seat. However, I have enough fun while waiting.

We waited in a small room at the back of the restaurant. It is a small bar that maybe has enough seats for 3 small groups. The drinks are expensive as expected. However, the best part of waiting is getting free food. They offered several different snacks. THEY ARE AMAZING. Filling my stomach to the fullest even before the actual dinner.

As you can see below, the restaurant is not that big. I took the picture at the corner. and there is not much more space here.

Since we are full, we didnt order that much food. Price is a bit expensive but still reasonable. The long awaited food was simply amazing.

a mutton kebabs with bengali style curry  $14

Wine marinated lamb popsicles in fenugreek cream curry $29

The best part of the best part. UNLIMITED REFILL of rice and naan.

Chewy Junior

I was attracted by the freshly baked smell of cream puff. They have two different types of filling: chocolate and cream. Both are delicious. The problem with eating this is how messy it could be. I was not expecting that. The cream was overflowing. It has enough sweet. We were lucky to eat this fresh. They were just opened the store.

Chocolate Oreo Crunch - what can go wrong with Oreo and chocolate filling

Almond Sweetheart - a combination of almond and cream filling. so delicious.

Matcha Nippon - the topping is very sweet, taste like condensed milk. Not my favorite but still really good.

Japadog

You can find this in the street like every other hot dog stands. The main different is that the hotdog is not simply sausage and bun, they put a lot of interesting stuffs in the mix.

Terimayo - beef with teriyaki sauce, seaweed, japanese mayo, and fried onion

I love bread in general. The bun is sweet and crunchy. I wish I can have the bun by itself.

Age Ice - Kurogoma (black sesame)
